Edublog awards 2009 … and the winner is..

The Edublog Awards have come and gone for another year! It was a great round-up with some wonderful results!I’m really excited by the results of the Best Library/ Librarian category.

It was fantastic to see Joyce’s Never Ending Search win! Joyce has been leading and inspiring teacher librarians in so many many ways. You’re streets ahead of us girl!! Also, congratulations to our Victorians at Bright Ideas … an information rich blog provided by the School Library Association of Victoria.

Special thanks to all the kind people who sent a vote in my direction. You were very generous 🙂

I was also thrilled to hear Karl Fisch win the Lifetime Award for 2009 – by a very strong margin. Fantastic Karl! Glad you made it to the Elluminate ceremony.

The 2009 Edublog Award Categories….

Christmas Eddies

Not everyone knows, or even cares about the annual Edublogs Awards.

But there are enough of us around to make the annual Eddies a great way to find out about new blogs, catch up on old favorites, have discussions, consider the evolution of Web 2.0, encourage those who have got involved, have arguements with the ‘old timers’ …whatever it takes to make a fun competition.

Thanks to the fantastic team who put on the awards this year: Josie Fraser, Dave Cormier, James Farmer, and to my fabulous friend Jo kay who hosted the event ‘inworld’ at Jokaydia supported by the EdTechTalk crew who provided a web-based audio stream of the event. I missed the event…being away in the country with no internet access. But I did catch up with some of the news via twitter and got a Christmas Eddie surprise all of my own!

I caught up with the Ustream later, and I loved Dave’s Top 10 Edtech News etc thingers of 2008.

Congrats to all. Congrats to those in the Best library/librarian award category – you are all sensational and certainly each of you are an inspiration to my work and my play online.

Thank you to all those amazing blog readers who cast a vote to support Heyjude. You guys really rock! because you gave me a super fun Christmas Eddie Pressie!

Thank you to James and Edublogs! I WILL be making contact to get into using Edublogs Campus – a great prize, and just the right time for our small efforts at innovation at Joeys. I believe every school needs an Edublogs Campus…so I’m looking forward to our explorations in 2009.

International Edublog Awards 2007 Finalists

This year we see another fabulous line-up in the annual Edublog Awards.

I am genuinely amazed and proud to find this blog nominated for Best Librarian blog – special thanks to those who considered Heyjude worthwhile for the honour!!

The wonderful thing about the annual Edublog Awards is the opportunity to share our finds, celebrate our work, and discover the wonderful new people who have joined us in the world of blogs and wikis.

As my super online friend (and multiple nominee) Sue Waters said

While it is really nice to be nominated we need to remember the best aspects of the awards is it creates a fabulous resource for educators to use for ideas on how social software is used in different contexts, with a range of different learners; which means we are introduced to new sites that we might not have found if not for the awards process.

Please take the time to visit the web sites of the Edublogs Award Finalists, explore the resources, do some voting, and perhaps add some excellent educational blogs to your feed reader.

It’s great to see Best Library/Librarian listed amongst the award categories. In schools we work hard to promote the role that Teacher Librarians/Librarians/Media Specialists have to play in 21st century learning. Our work is vital (critical even!) yet not always acknowledged for being central in each of our student’s lives.

I’m a teacher and I’m a librarian. That’s special – and what makes Heyjude special for me is that I know that the audience is strongly drawn from teachers and librarians alike – all interested in 21st century learning issues. Teacher Librarians are very special people 🙂 and we all have to work hard together to makes sure that we keep good school libraries in our Australian schools.

Edublog Awards

Welcome to the Eddies! The “Eddie” awards are in their fourth year, and they are now accepting nominations for 2007 in a variety of educational blog and related categories–including social networking! So this is a good time to nominate someone (or yourself!) in a category.

Nominations are open until the 21st of November, and then there will be a voting period. The Edublog Awards 2006 Winners were a good bunch. Now it’s time to see how things go in 2007! Voting is part of the fun each year of celebrating just how far we have come together in the Blogosphere.
